Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be met by Kapolondo Representative, outside the airport arrival section where you will have a briefing before transferred to Kigali Serena Hotel for your dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Kigali – Volcanoes National Park
After breakfast you will enjoy a City Tour of Kigali.
The history of Rwanda dates back centuries, Kigali has been a part of it’s for 100 years. Founded in 1907 as a German settlement, Kigali did not become the capital until Rwanda’s independence in 1962 when it replaced the colonial seat of power in Butare.
Visit the Kandt museum, see old Kigali and the craft centers then visit the genocide memorial site. Learn about Rwanda’s history from pre-colonial times to the 1994 genocide; learn about other genocides in the world and how this country has dealt with that past. Tour more and see the new developments in Rwanda; the recovery has been incredible, a testament to humankind’s resilience.
Depart on scenic drive North West wards through the beautiful terraced hillsides that display Rwanda’s landscape.
Arrive at Ruhengeri, the base for Gorilla trekking at the Parc National des Volcano. The town itself is located only 25km from Uganda boarder, is relatively a small city of about 70,000 people. The constant flow of humanity is quite remarkable. The Town has great views of the surrounding volcanoes. People are very friendly here and although a former Belgian colony (and thus French-speaking), many people speak English. Then will drive to Mountain Gorilla View Lodge for lunch.
In the evenings you will have Cultural Dancers troupe will spice your stay with memorable Rwandan dances.
Day 3: Volcanoes National Park
0600hrs:Depart with packed breakfast.
0640 hrs: (approx) arrival at the Volcanoes National Park HQs
0700 hrs: Registration is a simple process where the park staff determines which group of gorillas you will visit. The park staff discusses your fitness level and advises you of the trekking times and conditions to the various groups based upon their location in the park the previous evening. There are a total of 80 gorilla permits available each day with a maximum of eight trekkers visiting any one group.
Once the trekkers are put into groups, each group’s Lead Guide briefs the trekkers of the trekking procedures as well as the “do’s and don’ts” while in the presence of gorillas. After the briefing, trekkers return to their respective vehicles for the drive up the mountain to the starting point. Porters may be hired for the trek to carry your backpack and gear.
Trekking can take from two to six or more hours if the gorillas move before the park rangers locate them the next morning. The guides stop frequently to allow trekkers a chance to rest and take photos along the way.
Upon sighting the gorillas, you will stay with them for a magical hour as they go about their daily life, feeding, playing, resting; raising their young. Coming face to face with a giant silverback must truly be one of the greatest wildlife experiences on earth!
After the trek, rejoin your driver Guide for a transfer to Lodge for lunch. Afternoon at leisure to enjoy or optional for activities, Dinner and overnight at Mountain Gorilla View Lodge
Day 4: Volcanoes National Park
After breakfast depart for a city tour of Musanze (Ruhengeri), a small friendly town of 70,000 people and formerly a Belgian colony. Ruhengeri is situated in a shallow valley with easily climbed hills, panoramic views of the city and volcanoes. Enjoy the crisp mountain air and mingle with the culturally diverse residents during a visit to Ruhengeri’s outdoor market. The hustle and bustle
combined with welcoming stall vendors will be enjoyed by everyone. Heaping bins of fresh tomatoes, beans and maize vie for attention alongside beautiful fabrics. You will also visit Artisan Village showcases hand-crafted items, including colorful baskets and beautiful hand-thrown pottery after visiting the Artisan Village it will a time for lunch at Mountain Gorilla View Lodge
(Note )Ruhengeri area is located at 2400 meters above sea level and is chilly early morning and evening. While trekking, It can rain unexpectedly, hence waterproof clothing is a good essential including zip lock bags for cameras and film. You will also need boots that can cope with some mud
In afternoon have a Tour to Buhoro and Bulera lakes
Day 5: Volcanoes national Park – – Kigali
After breakfast depart for Eastwards past coffee, tea and banana plantations on a scenic drive to Kigali. Everything and everywhere, sheer green and hanging on the hills; Rwanda truly – land of a thousand fertile green hills. You will drive to Kigali International airport for your scheduled departure flight to home.
